LaShonda Valentine ONeal

LPC-A

LaShonda is an LPC-Associate with experience providing psychotherapy and counseling services to children, adolescents, adults, and couples. LaShonda earned her Master of Education in Counseling and Development from Lamar University, and her Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of North Texas. Prior to becoming a counselor, she worked with children for 9 years in the field of education. Her goal in therapy is to assist children, adolescents, and adults in gaining insight and understanding of their experiences, increase emotional resilience and develop coping strategies while decreasing challenging behaviors and internalized conflicts. LaShonda utilizes a non-directive, empathic approach that empowers and motivates her clients throughout the therapeutic relationship. She works to cultivate client relationships that enable trust, safety and security through her empathic and non-judgmental therapeutic style. She enthusiastically welcomes the opportunity to collaborate with her clients through Play Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and Person-Centered Therapy. She is a Prepare/Enrich Facilitator and uses that approach in her Pre-Marital and Marital counseling. LaShonda looks forward to helping her clients build emotional wellbeing and believes emotional wellness is just as important as breathing! LaShonda sees children and adolescents. As an LPC-A she can see those on a limited number of insurance and EAP panels and can also see self-pay patients.
