Jen Shen

Jen Shen is a Licensed Master Social Worker. She earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology and her master’s degree in social work at the University of Houston. She has over 12 years of experience working in the mental health field. Jen spent the early part of her career working as a Board Certified Associate Behavior Analyst (BCaBA) providing early intervention treatment for young children diagnosed on the Autism Spectrum. She has also worked as a therapist using a trauma-informed approach with teens, families, and veterans suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, and other severe emotional and behavioral challenges. Jen has facilitated groups in anger management, mindfulness, and relationships. She has also conducted extensive research on the effects of screen time on young children and teens, and promotes educating children on responsible screen time usage.

As a therapist, she utilizes a holistic, strengths-based approach while striving to provide a safe, non-judgemental space for her patients. Jen prefers using a mixed bag of modalities including Attachment Based Theory, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Behavior Modification, Solution Focused Therapy and Play Therapy. She believes that each person is fully capable of reaching their highest potential no matter what challenges are in front of them. Jen works with clients to give them the tools to achieve their individual goals and reach an optimal quality of life.
